I was so impressed with the courageous writing and acting in Model Apartment. I’ve never been disappointed with the choice of plays or performances of TJT, but this was incredibly powerful. I must admit, as a child of Holocaust survivors I felt somewhat like I was hurled at top speed into my own deepest, dark places, but also like that reality was being demonstrated so flawlessly I was in awe of it. The Holocaust, because of its basic inhumanity and insanity could not leave in its wake only well-adjusted survivors and their offspring. We all learn to live in spite of the horror, but it is clear that the toxicity is mulitlayered. Several years ago when I recognized that many children of survivors where creating art and writing in response to their parents and their own experiences I edited an anthology, Bittersweet Legacy - Creative Responses to the Holocaust. The poetry and art reflect the complexity and multi-generational affects of this dark time in human history.(examples in virtual museum address above)
This is a powerful, important play performed by immensely talented and dedicated professionals.
