“Jewish company’s staging of work near perfection.”
—San Jose Mercury News
The words of Bernard Malamud explode into vivid theatrical life when TJT brings his two most celebrated stories to the stage in the style of the Word for Word Performing Arts Company. The Magic Barrel centers on a hapless rabbinical student’s encounter with a mysterious, herring-eating match-maker. The Jewbird† is Malamud’s darkly hilarious fable of assimilation and identity.
Featuring Corey Fischer* and others.
†The Jewbird was originally conceived in collaboration with the Word for Word Performing Arts Company, a program of The Z Space Studio.
This production is presented by the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco in celebration of TJT’s 30th Anniversary.
